Skin testing to diagnose allergies in small animals

Intradermal skin testing peformed by Dr. Preziosi, assisted by Chris Gardner.
Intradermal skin testing is commonly performed in our clinic to identify specific environmental allergies. This information is used to formulate allergy shots that are specific for your pet’s allergies. This test can be performed any time of the year. A blood allergy test may be preferred in a limited number of situations but the success rate for this test is highest if performed during the season when the allergies are at their worst. Because time of year, medications the pet is currently taking, condition of the skin and age can all affect the test, it is not usually performed during the first visit.
